1. So tell us what is it that you do now?

I am a Holistic Integrative Health Coach

POWER STATEMENT:  I help women (especially peri-menopausal women) struggling with belly-bloat, brain-fog, and burn-out, to lose weight, gain focus and re-ignite their energy!

... because I remember what that was like for me and there are things these women can do.

2. What had you get into this line of work ?

30-90 Second story.

Always more interested in what keeps people well (proactive with health)

I was a nurse and began studying and practicing holistic alternatives:  I taught yoga for many years and studied nutrition all along the way.  All of which came in handy when dealing with my own auto-immune issues: Graves Disease and Celiac.

Ironically, When I became the sickest I’ve ever been, I was the healthiest person I knew.  I was doing all the “recommended” things:  eating low-fat, whole grains... etc. and I was sick.

I was exhausted ( paint the picture)...

But I did figure it out and with a shifting in some things in my already healthy lifestyle ... (gluten free being a big part of it ) - my fog lifted, my belly vanished and my energy soared.

So I became a certified holistic health coach because I knew I could help others on their wellness journey too.  Specifically, I wanted them to know NOW, what I wish I knew THEN...  That a solution did exist and I didn’t have to suffer.

3. Wow! That is incredible! How did you do that? Tell us more about that.

Well it started with (problem) ...

The key things I discovered/ learned/ found were ...

The DCT/ Solution (what it is like now) ...

Well, it started when I suspected that I had Celiac.  I knew all about it and I knew what to do: just had to stop eating gluten--not so easy 12 years ago. But, I did my best and certainly made some mistakes along the way keeping me feeling sick.

A key thing I learned was that certain sauces and spices, and even some naturally gluten-free foods contained gluten or are cross-contaminated. I also learned that simply replacing one gluten-rich processed food with it’s gluten-free version was not doing anything to reduce my 3-month “pregnant” belly or to get me off the sofa, or to help me remember why I got up from the sofa and headed to another room... for something (?)

It’s crazy to think of all that now and how amazing I feel most every day. I will be turning 60 next month and I feel a good 20 years younger.  I get up at 4 am, do my journaling, get on my yoga mat for a power-flow session, walk my pups George and Bentley and still have energy to hang with my grandkids Landon and Brycey and inevitably get talked into a game of soccer, or hockey-soccer/basketball soccer and sometimes tennis soccer... always something soccer.

4. So is that why you decided to become a health coach?

Absolutely!!

5. How do you work with your clients? How does this work?

Most of my clients are .......... (ideal client avatar) who have ICP and are looking for DCT.  So I walk them step by step through a program (from ICP to DCT). I work with them very closely primarily virtually so it is easy for anyone anywhere. There is plenty of accountability and support but also they know exactly what to do to get on the other side of this. The most important thing is that we get results.

Most of my clients are peri-menopausal women struggling with the usual bloated belly and fog and  burn-out and are wondering - is this it? Is this what my life looks like now that I’m 50? So I work with them really closely. We do an assessment to see where they are at initially because everyone is unique and I walk them step-by-step through a program that helps them banish the bloat, brain fog and burnout. I work with them mainly virtually, where we get together via video chat.  There is plenty accountability and support, but they also know exactly what to do to get on the other side of this.  The most important thing is that we get RESULTS!!

6. What is the biggest myth when it comes to losing weight and eating healthy or menopause..... ?

That it is complicated.  That we have to count calories, or points or calculate this or that.  Or that we have to become an expert at reading labels.

You know what? REAL food doesn’t require labels!!! Not only do you recognize it when you see it, your BODY recognizes it and knows just what to do with it to provide nourishment for your body.

7. Why is ......  important?

Teach

This really matters because - lose time on the couch.

But also you feeling bad is a clue ... that something is not right. This is inflammation ... heart disease, diabetes, stroke, cancer, etc.

8. What are a couple of tips that you can share with our viewers?

Increase your water intake. It is recommended that we drink half our body weight in ounces each day.  So for instance if you weigh 150 pounds, you should be drinking 75 ounces of good, clean WATER.  Veggies and fruits with high water content are bonus.  Doing this ONE thing can increase your energy and reduce anxiety.

Get moving... outdoors, if possible. Even if it’s just a 5 minute walk. Start small with something you enjoy and increase the distance/duration slowly over-time. Don’t think that you HAVE to join a gym, or do 90 minutes of yoga right off the bat. The best exercise for you is the one that you like enough to do everyday.

Get support. Seek expert counsel is a great idea.

9. What are some of the spin off benefits of ...... that you've seen with your clients?

Case study/ example

There are so many, but sometimes people come to me because their doctor says they need to lower their blood-sugar or cholesterol and they find that in a short period of time of working with me that they’ve also lost 10-15 pounds, are thinking more clearly and then realize all their little aches and pains are gone.

10. How can people connect with you or ask questions?
