Should we add phone number to the challenge registrant form so we can text them reminders to book their call #1s? I noticed that the only information we are collecting to sign up for the free challenge is name and email?
You can add a phone number field to the opt-in form however there are pros and cons of doing so.
Pro: You can use the text function to remind them to book their call 1's
Con: Adding more required information to opt-in forms typically decreases conversion rates - meaning out of all the people who view your opt-in page, less people will actually register for the challenge to begin with.
It's definitely something you can test if you wanted to. But this is something to be aware of. You'd also have to add SMS compliance messaging to the form and set up another do not disturb automation behind the scenes for SMS compliance. (if we set up and submitted your A2P registration you might not be aware of those things).
Typically speaking, when starting out you want to "decrease friction" (less questions on forms, less steps, etc.) with the funnel to increase the flow, and then as flow increases you can "add friction" (add more fields and questions), to further qualify the individuals coming through the funnel.
People have had success with just email for the opt-in for these challenges and have been able to convert the leads to booked calls and into paying clients with the current set up. (THPA's funnels also only have name and email for opt-in forms).
Either way you will definitely want to follow up with your registrants who haven't booked a call yet. For the ones who have already registered, I would recommend following up with them individually via email in the system. Then see how that goes and see if you can get a few more of them to book calls.
Another variable worth mentioning is where your leads are coming from and how "cold" they are. On average, cold market leads are more likely to ignore emails and messages and less likely to book the calls from funnels. Warmer leads that know you are more likely to respond, book calls and show up. It's a numbers game either way. Warm leads will just convert at higher percentages than cold leads. We will never get 100% of registrants to book a call but we will always want to follow up with them to make that percentage as high as possible.
Hope this helps! I'd try with just email first to keep the "flow" wide open at the top. Then if you wanted to test it, you can always try adding the phone number to the opt-in form and see how it changes the opt-in rate and the opt-in to booked call ratio.
If the time comes that you'd like to test out collecting phone numbers on the opt-in form you can let me know and I'll try to record a quick loom video for you about setting that up!
